I have to say that while this does bring the orginization into the forefront Im not sure its quite the way that would be good for us to be. Those christian teens who are on the border of some of the the Radical thoughts and beliefs of Teen Mania ministries may be turned off by seeing it portrayed in a more political light.

I have had some of our Middle of the road Methodist church parents pull their kids from going to one of the comming events BECAUSE of the overtly political spin that is being placed on Teen Mania thanks to this. I beleive these kids would have greatly learned from the experience and may have been driven to the next steps in their faith. I actualy Find it sad that our worth while orginization is being forced to be seen in a Political rather than LOVING light.

Perhaps not, however Battle Cry is more an awareness campaign than it is live events. The live events are the means, not the end. The end goal is to get people aware of the crisis that is facing young people today. Even if fiascos like this [and there will probably be more] scare away a few people who are afraid of getting too political, I think it accomplishes more good in getting the word out there and getting people aware of what's going on with this upcoming generation.

Battle Cry is about teaching our kids how to live and pray for those around them. To say it has a political side is to Undermine the Moderates and liberals who have come through teen mania ministries. A fiasco like this Cut my attending group in half and even made two sets of parents Drop their kid from our Global expedition. These are kids who have a heart for God and the nations. I beleive that Mr. Luce should not have set a precident by stateing political stances. Not all who go to Battle Cry are as Conservative as he is and to force that label on all of us is to devide the kids we are trying to bring together. The Battle cry is for all of the Christian faith to learn how to live OUR Lives right and pray for those who are still lost. I beleive forcing politics into a message that has been around and work for this many years WEAKENS the message and the messengers. When I was a teenager we Went to Stand up and brought a young Gay man with us. He was very much out of the closet but we were showing him love in inviteing him. During that service he gave his life to christ and chose to pray hard about his life choices. After this aired he said had someone done the same this year he would doubt it would have the same outcome. HOW SAD!

A few things...
  • Battle Cry is not about teaching kids how to live and pray for those around them. It's an awareness campaign designed to raise awareness regarding the state of the millenials generation [born 1983-present], and to formulate an action plan to help youth ministries double in size every year and rescue this generation that's in crisis. It is not just a youth rally, and it is intrinsically political in nature because it deals with morals [specifically regarding corporations and media], and morals are what determine politics.

  • Ron did not make political statements; He merely stated the beliefs of the Ministry. However, in doing so, Ron [and anyone else who states that they base their morals on the Bible] opens the door to being called a right-wing political biggot. Is that the case? Obviously not. Is that the point of Battle Cry? Clearly no. But Teen Mania cannot control the reactions of fringe left wing groups that want to call the Ministry a theocratic movement.

  • I'm sorry that the members of your group got skittish because someone else painted Teen Mania as a right-ring political movement. Perhaps someone [like yourself] who knows more about the Ministry than just what they hear on the news ought to help them understand that Teen Mania isn't a political organization...

Battle cry is a way to bring others into a right relationship with god. However as I recal Teen Mania has always placed everything they do into the one slogan that they remind you of everywhere.

"A relentless pursuit of God and a Relentless pursuit of the people he loves" As such it all boils down to being the light for them and praying for them and loving them.

Teen Mania is the organization. Their vision is "to provoke a young generation to passionately pursue God and to take His life-giving message to the ends of the earth."

Battle Cry is a thrust of Teen Mania, and while the vision of Teen Mania is what fuels everything that they do, Battle Cry has it's own specific agenda as well. That agenda is to create awareness as to what's going on in the millenial generation, to bring pastors and parents and ministries and churches alongside young people, and give them practical ways to rescue their generation. It's a unique agenda from Teen Mania's overall vision. If you haven't yet, you should read "Battle Cry for a Generation."

Did the interview turn political or something? If it did, I can understand people not liking it.

It did in that rather than talk about How we were helping others and learning to pray for Those lost in our and the next generations It all about the politics of Far Right wing verses Far Left wing. While Ron himself is Far Right alot of us who have Been part of BC have been part of GE and been at the HA have not this is the reason I beleive it sends MUCH the wrong message to those who were on the border of letting their kids go

If you noticed, O'Reilly runs a rather tight ship, and his guests are only permitted to answer the questions he asks them. I'm sure that Ron would have preferred to go on there and set the record straight as to exactly what Battle Cry was about, but instead he was simply answering O'Reilly's questions and basically defending Battle Cry.

yes I noticed however As much as I respect Ron I don't beleive knowing what kind of show O'Rileys is there should have been an appearence at all. Oddly having heard the arguments made at the HA I think Dave or another of the Harder pushing people might have done better Bringing the show back to What the Ideals of Teen mania are. I beieive a Written statement to the effect of what the ministry was about would have gone alot farther to the promotion and ideals that Teen Mania so richly brings to young people today.

I guess that's why he's the man, huh?

If the interview turned political, it was the left wing protester who attempted to make it such. Ron specifically says during the interview that "we are not a political organization," and that Battle Cry is about "helping young people find a voice for their generation."

When was this on TV? Would have been interesting to watch. (My computer won't let me view your file)

I believe it was on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Bill O'Reilly clearly did not like that girl at all. He almost made her cry I think.

Anywho, I think this was a well done interview/debate. Ron Luce spoke of our organization well.

yeah, it was kind of funny... both on the steps of city hall and watching it later. :oP

I think so too...

I can't tell you how nice it was for us to be represented so well on a corporate news channel. That shows a change in perspective. Hopefully it only keeps growing.

But in retrospect I do feel kinda bad for her getting shot down like that. I mean it made not only her look weak, but it translates to her organization being weak. And that's not fair. I am all for freedom of speech/assembly/etc. and I take even my opponents disadvantages to heart. Because that will have resounding effects.

But I smile because Ron is so amazing.
